Daily Itinerary

Day 1 - Travel to Grand Canyon

Travel to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, where we will set up our campground as the launch point for the coming days. The campground is located just east of Grand Canyon Village, and makes an amazing home base from which to enjoy day hikes into the canyon as well as spectacular nearby viewpoints. Get settled in for the night

Day 2 - Bright Angel Trailhead

Estimated hiking distance: 6 miles (9.6 km)

Estimated hiking time roundtrip: 4–6 hours

Elevation Change from the South Rim: 2,120 feet (645 m)

We’ll be hiking from the South Rim down 2,120 feet into the Grand Canyon to reach the 3-Mile Resthouse. We will get a chance to see some authentic petroglyphs on the Canyon wall. Enjoy a group dinner back at our Campground and debrief the day’s hike.

Day 3 - South Kaibab Trail

Estimated hiking distance: 6 miles (9.6 km)

Estimated hiking time roundtrip: 4–6 hours

Elevation Change from the South Rim: 2,040 feet (620 m)

Descend into the canyon with the destination of Skeleton Point as our goal! This hiking trail follows an exposed ridge line on a well maintained trail and provides breathtaking views.

Day 4 - The Rim Trail

Estimated hiking distance: 7.8 miles (12.6 km)

Estimated hiking time roundtrip: 4–6 hours

Elevation Change from the South Rim: Hike is along South Rim at 6,820 feet, does not descend into Canyon.

Hike along the edge of the South Rim. Stop at the Verkamp’s Visitor Center to learn about the pioneer history of Grand Canyon Village. Enjoy a visit the Yavapai Geology Museum to discover Grand Canyon’s incredible story of formation. Enjoy a number of lookout points along the Rim Trail.

 

Day 5 - Homeward Bound

Pack up our site and begin our journey home after an awesome trip to the Grand Canyon together
