Days 1 - 2 - Travel To New Zealand
Group flight bound for New Zealand with stops en route. Cross over the International Time Line en route!
Day 3 - Christchurch
Stay at a Christchurch hostel that served as a prison from 1874-1999! Since 2006, however, it has been re-purposed into one of the most popular hostels in New Zealand (pending availability).
Days 4 - 6 - Volunteer work, Nelson Lakes National Park
Travel to St Arnaud, Nelson Lakes. Work hand-in-hand with the New Zealand Department of Conservation (DOC) to maintain the natural beauty of this national park. Projects include:
- Clearing traps of pest animals
- Tree planting
- Track maintenance
There will be plenty of time to explore the National Park, birdwatch, see wildlife and learn about life in this alpine community.
Days 7 - 9 - Abel Tasman National Park Coast track (or similar trek)
Enjoy the natural beauty and beaches around us as we embark on the Abel Tasman Coast Trek. This beautiful and gradual trail will provide us with beautiful scenery, flora & fauna, fun beach activities, delicious meals cooked by us and more!
Days 10 - 11 - Picton
Two nights in Picton. In addition to beach time, relaxation and shopping following our trek, we will seek to focus on and interact with wildlife during this phase of the trip. Details to be provided.
Days 12 - 13 - Kairkoura
Explore the culture and history of the indigenous Maori people from a local family perspective. Enjoy a traditional Maori greeting, weave with harakeke (the native flax plant) and much more. Visit the Ohau Waterfalls. End our stay with beach time and final souvenir shopping.
Days 14 - 15 - Homeward Bound
Transfer to Christchurch and board our flight home. Arrive back home, after an amazing trip to New Zealand!
