What To Expect

Uganda is stunningly green and boasts an impressive wildlife population. The country has quite a low GDP, making it a particularly worthwhile service learning destination, but what they lack in money they make up for in heart and warmth.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1 - Travel to Uganda

Depart on an overnight group flight to Entebbe, Uganda bound! Prepare for the Uganda service & culture tour ahead.

Day 2 - Welcome to Uganda

Welcome to Uganda! Meet your Evolve Tours director and load our bus. Get a good night’s sleep in Entebbe

Day 3 - Travel to Lira

En route, stop at Karuma Falls crossing the Nile. See the friendly, local baboons. Continue North to Lira for the night.

Day 4 - LIRA AND BARLONYO

Visit a non-profit organization which works to empower war-affected youth impacted by Joseph Kony. Visit Barlonyo, the site of the February 21, 2004 Lord’s Resistance Army massacre of 301 villagers. Meet with students and teachers at a local school – participate in a soccer game and cultural exchange.

Days 5 - 7 - Service Learning Project(s)

For the next 3 days, begin our Uganda service projects. Participate in projects at the local school campus and farm, including: Join in carpentry/ bricklaying/ computer/ entrepreneur classes with local students. Work with local students on school Income Generating Activities (IGA’s)– piggery, poultry, goats, fish farm, crop farm, tree nursery, carpentry products for sale. Spend our night’s in the school’s dormitories.

Day 8 - VILLAGES OF ABIA AND APALA

Today the group will visit the nearby villages of Abia and Apala to meet with their communities. Participate in soap making, basket weaving, paper bead crafts.

Days 9 - 10 - MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

Explore Murchison Falls National Park. Embark on a 2 day Safari tour to photograph the “Big 5” Animals. Also enjoy a Nile River cruise. This park is home to the Nile River and savannah, forests and woodland. A vast array of wildlife live here including hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, chimpanzees and many bird species.

Day 11 - Return to Entebbe

Transfer back down towards Entebbe. Time permitting, tour the cultural sites of Kampala, including the Kasubi Tombs, Gaddafi National Mosque and Uganda Martyrs Shrine. Depart on an overnight flight home.

Arrive home after an amazing trip to Uganda together
