Day 1 - Travel to Washington D.C.
Arrive in Washington! Meet your Evolve Tours Director, excited to spend the upcoming week together. Embark on a walking tour of the National Mall. Highlights include: Washington Mall, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Korean War Memorial, the Reflecting Pool, and more. End with a photo-op in front of the White House. Enjoy dinner, and check into our accommodations for the evening.
Day 2 - Explore Washington
Enjoy breakfast as a group at the hotel. Depart to historical Gettysburg. Watch an IMAX film, A New Birth of Freedom, narrated by Morgan Freeman. Visit the Cyclorama – created after the American Civil War, the Cyclorama is a colossal circular oil painting depicting the charge of Confederate infantry. After lunch on the grounds, board our bus for a tour of the battlefield led by a Licensed Battlefield Guide. Along the way, you’ll get off the bus several times to experience the hallowed grounds and learn the history and geography of the infamous site. Head to Georgetown: a unique and friendly neighbourhood.
Day 3 - Explore Washington
Enjoy a guided tour of the Library of Congress, the largest library in the world. Embark on a guided walking tour around Capitol Hill. Enjoy lunch and free time to explore Union Station. For the afternoon, we will all become spies in training with an immersive and interactive workshop at the International Spy Museum. Participate in the operation code-cracker workshop. This evening we will enjoy a tasty group dinner at another Washington D.C. area restaurant and head out for a hilarious live comedy show.
Day 4 - Explore Washington
Visit to the famous historical Ford’s Theater: The site of the April 14, 1865 assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. See the play “One Destiny” at Ford Theatre or similar, followed by a visit to the Petersen House and Center. For lunch we’ll head to one of D.C’s premier food and art markets for lunch and souvenir shopping at Eastern Market. For the afternoon, explore the the Smithsonian Museums! The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum and research complex. We will enjoy the morning to explore the museums and galleries, such as the Air and Space Museum, the Museum of Natural History, the Smithsonian Castle, and more. Tonight, enjoy an evening boat cruise along the Potomac River to see Washington D.C. lit up for our final night.
Day 5 - Homeward Bound
Depart for the Arlington National Cemetery. Tour and pay our respects to where the final resting place for more than 400,000 active duty service members, veterans and their families are buried, including John F. Kennedy. Pay tribute at the Tomb of Unknown Soldier, and witness the change of the guard ceremony. Following, pay a visit to the nearby U.S. Marine Corps Memorial. Final afternoon in Washington D.C., begin our travels home
