Trip Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu – Gateway to the Himalayas

As we descend into Kathmandu Valley, the sight of prayer flags fluttering in the wind and golden temple spires signals the beginning of an extraordinary journey. Upon arrival, we are greeted by our local guides with a traditional garland ceremony, a warm Nepali welcome. After settling in, we embark on a walking tour of Thamel, the lively heart of Kathmandu, where narrow alleys are lined with market stalls selling handcrafted jewelry, prayer wheels, and aromatic spices. We visit Durbar Square, a UNESCO-listed site filled with ancient palaces, intricately carved temples, and vibrant street life. In the evening, we gather for a welcome dinner featuring traditional Nepali cuisine, such as dal bhat (lentil soup with rice), momos (dumplings), and sel roti (sweet rice doughnuts), while our guide introduces us to Nepal’s history, traditions, and the journey ahead.

  • Day 2: Boudhanath & Pashupatinath – Spiritual Heart of Nepal

Today, we immerse ourselves in Nepal’s deep spiritual traditions with visits to two of its most sacred sites. We begin at Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world. As we walk clockwise around the stupa, spinning prayer wheels and observing monks in deep meditation, we gain insight into Tibetan Buddhist traditions. We have the chance to visit a monastery where young monks chant morning prayers, a mesmerizing experience that transports us into the rhythm of monastic life. Next, we visit Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal’s most sacred Hindu temple, situated on the banks of the Bagmati River. Here, we witness ancient rituals, cremation ceremonies, and the presence of sadhus (Hindu holy men) covered in ash. As we walk through the temple complex, we discuss Hindu beliefs on life, death, and reincarnation, gaining a deeper understanding of Nepal’s spiritual fabric. In the evening, we return to Kathmandu Durbar Square, where we enjoy a rooftop dinner overlooking centuries-old temples bathed in golden light.

  • Day 3: Patan & Bhaktapur – Nepal’s Timeless Cities

Leaving behind the modern bustle of Kathmandu, we venture into two ancient cities that feel frozen in time. Our first stop is Patan (Lalitpur), the City of Fine Arts, renowned for its exquisite Newari architecture, hidden courtyards, and traditional metalwork. We explore Patan Durbar Square, visiting the Golden Temple and Krishna Mandir, while engaging with artisans at a local metalworking studio, where we learn about the centuries-old craft of creating Buddhist statues and temple ornaments. In the afternoon, we head to Bhaktapur, a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its well-preserved medieval charm. We stroll through Taumadhi Square, visit Nyatapola Temple (the tallest pagoda in Nepal), and witness potters shaping clay by hand in Pottery Square. We end the day by sampling juju dhau (Bhaktapur’s famous "king curd" yogurt) before returning to Kathmandu for the evening.

  • Day 4: Journey to Pokhara – Lakes, Mountains & Adventure

Today, we leave the Kathmandu Valley behind and travel to Pokhara, Nepal’s adventure capital, nestled beside Phewa Lake and the Annapurna mountain range. The drive offers breathtaking views of rice terraces, rushing rivers, and distant snow-capped peaks. Along the way, we stop at Bandipur, a beautifully preserved hilltop town, where we take a short hike through lush hills and traditional villages, soaking in the peaceful countryside. Arriving in Pokhara by late afternoon, we take a leisurely boat ride on Phewa Lake, watching as the reflection of Mount Machapuchare (Fishtail Mountain) glows in the setting sun.
