On any trip to Japan; you need to visit Kyoto…and when you visit Kyoto you need to visit Fushimi Inari Shrine.
At the shrine there are thousands of vermilion torii gates that have been donated over time from individuals and companies to commemorate family members who have passed away or simply as as a donation to the space. The gates lead up to the viewpoint at the top of the hill; which offers up an incredible view of Kyoto and the region. On any school trip or educational tour to Japan, this is must see activity when visiting Kyoto.
