Experiential Education

Evolve Tours strives to offer immersive experiential education to all of our students and travelers. Remaining focused and committed to providing experiential education within a cultural narrative is a sensitive dance. Travelers experience cultural narrative through experiential education and travel on all of our trips.

Hearing as a Means of Giving

This includes hearing specific requirements and generating solutions that meet those parameters. Often, people just want to feel heard and included. As important as it is to be prepared when presenting a plan, it is also vital to let someone feel included in the process.

Approaching Sensitive Exhibits

Part of this group’s itinerary included a visit to the Montreal Holocaust Museum. As a Hebrew school, this excursion became especially important. This allowed students an opportunity to connect with personal family histories and cultural legacies. Speaking to the teachers ahead of time was crucial because it allowed the visit to be framed in a sensitive way. Having an understanding of the school’s relationship to this history and the importance of connecting students to their cultural stories. This allowed the visit to be properly front-loaded and reflected on.

Art as Play

One of the unanimous favorite activities on the trip was our Picasso workshop. Students were given a demonstration, but after that were encouraged to get as creative as they pleased! The art produced from this activity demonstrates the unique abilities of each student. Seeing as there was no ‘wrong’ way to do this activity, each student was able to enjoy the experience on their own terms.
