Trip Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca & Introduction to Moroccan Heritage

Touching down in Casablanca, we’re immediately enveloped by the sights and sounds of Morocco. After meeting our local guides, we set off to explore the city’s vibrant mix of modernity and tradition. A visit to the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, offers breathtaking views of intricate tilework and its dramatic setting over the Atlantic Ocean. In the afternoon, we transfer to Rabat, Morocco’s capital, where we stroll through the historic Kasbah of the Udayas, a fortress with narrow blue-painted alleys and ocean views. Over a welcome dinner of fragrant tagine and fresh mint tea, we discuss the journey ahead, filled with cultural encounters, ancient medinas, and stunning landscapes.

  • Day 2: Fes – The Spiritual & Artistic Heart of Morocco

Today, we travel to Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial city and a UNESCO-listed treasure. Our first stop is the medieval Fes el-Bali medina, a labyrinth of winding alleys, bustling souks, and centuries-old architecture. We visit the Chouara Tannery, where artisans dye leather using traditional methods, followed by the Al Quaraouiyine University, one of the oldest in the world. A Moroccan calligraphy workshop provides insight into Arabic script as an art form, and we try our hand at writing with traditional ink and reed pens. In the evening, we dine in a riad, enjoying pastilla, a savory-sweet pastry filled with spiced meat and almonds.

  • Day 3: Journey to the Sahara – Camel Trek & Desert Camp

Leaving Fes behind, we embark on a scenic drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing cedar forests and Berber villages. We stop in Midelt for a traditional Berber meal before reaching the golden dunes of Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara Desert. As the sun begins to set, we mount camels for a trek into the heart of the dunes, where silence and vastness create an unforgettable experience. Arriving at our desert camp, we settle into traditional tents before gathering around a fire for Gnawa music, storytelling, and stargazing under one of the clearest night skies in the world.

  • Day 4: Aït Benhaddou & The Road of 1,000 Kasbahs

We wake early to watch the sunrise over the dunes before heading west through the Draa Valley, known for its ancient caravan routes and fortified villages. Our destination is Aït Benhaddou, an iconic kasbah that has appeared in countless films and represents Morocco’s rich architectural heritage. After exploring the maze-like pathways of this mud-brick fortress, we visit a local family to learn about Berber traditions and daily life in the desert. Continuing along the Road of 1,000 Kasbahs, we arrive in Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Sahara,” where we tour a traditional kasbah and discuss Morocco’s role in global cinema.

  • Day 5: High Atlas Mountains & Traditional Village Stay

Today, we journey into the High Atlas Mountains, where Berber villages are perched on dramatic cliffsides. We trek through breathtaking landscapes, pausing to learn about the region’s sustainable farming practices and the production of argan oil, a treasured Moroccan export. In the afternoon, we arrive in a remote village, where we are warmly welcomed by local families. Engaging in daily activities, such as baking bread in clay ovens or weaving carpets, provides a hands-on cultural exchange. Over a communal meal of couscous and slow-cooked lamb, we learn about Berber hospitality and storytelling traditions.

  • Day 6: Marrakech – The Vibrant Red City

Our final stop is Marrakech, a city bursting with energy, history, and artistic expression. We begin at the Majorelle Garden, a serene retreat filled with exotic plants and striking blue architecture once owned by Yves Saint Laurent. Next, we explore the Koutoubia Mosque, the city’s defining landmark, and the opulent Bahia Palace. As evening approaches, we immerse ourselves in the electric atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, where snake charmers, musicians, and storytellers create a spectacle like no other. We enjoy our farewell dinner at a rooftop restaurant, indulging in Mechoui (roast lamb) while taking in the medina’s dazzling lights.

  • Day 7: Reflection & Departure

On our final morning, we gather for a reflection session, sharing our most meaningful moments from the journey. Whether it was navigating Fes’ ancient alleyways, sleeping under the Sahara’s stars, or experiencing the warmth of Berber hospitality, each experience has deepened our understanding of Morocco’s layered history and diverse cultures. With a newfound appreciation for Moroccan traditions and landscapes, we bid farewell, carrying home the vibrant colors, flavors, and rhythms of this enchanting country.
