This 14-day Japan Exchange trip offers students a unique cultural immersion experience. The program includes visits to Tokyo, Kyoto, and a homestay in Takaoka, allowing participants to explore Japan’s vibrant cities and local traditions. With guided tours, free time for exploration, and a focus on educational and cultural activities, students will gain a deeper understanding of Japanese history and daily life.
Activities & Attractions

Accommodations
- Tokyo: Hotel in Ikebukuro for 3 nights (April 16-18), similar to Sunshine City Prince Hotel, Hotel Grand City Ikebukuro, or Hotel Route-Inn Ikebukuro. 2-4 people per room, in-suite bathrooms, breakfast included.
- Kyoto: Hotel near Kyoto Station for 3 nights (April 19-21), similar to Via Inn Prime Kyoto Hachijo-guchi, REF Kyoto Hachijo-guchi, or Hotel Elcient Kyoto. 2-4 people per room, in-suite bathrooms, breakfast included.
- Takaoka: Homestay with host families for 6 nights (April 22-27), organized by Takaoka Dai-Ichi High School. During the homestay, chaperones accommodations are not included by Evolve Tours. We can add this if needed.
Meals
- Breakfasts: Included at hotels in Tokyo (3 days) and Kyoto (3 days).
- Lunch and Supper: Not included; participants will arrange meals on their own.
Transportation
- Flights:
- Departure: Saskatoon to Narita, Tokyo (via Calgary) on April 15.
- Return: Narita to Saskatoon (via Calgary) on April 28.
- Narita Airport to Ikebukuro Hotel: Private coach transfer for 19 people, no guide (April 16).
- Shinagawa Station to Kyoto: Bullet train for 19 people, no guide (April 19).
- Kyoto Full-Day Tour: Private coach with English-speaking guide for 19 people (April 21).
- Kyoto to Shin-Takaoka: Bullet train for 18 people, no guide (April 22).
- Shin-Takaoka to Narita Airport: Train transfer for 18 people, no guide (April 28). Transportation from Shin-Takaoka to NRT using JR lines (Narita
Express from Tokyo, very little difference in fee and time).
Evolve isn’t able to secure Keisei line tickets in advance.
Additional Personnel
English-Speaking Guide: Provided for a full-day tour in Kyoto on April 21. Preferably non-Japanese, focusing on the key cultural and historical sites in Kyoto.

- The group travels from Kyoto to Shin-Takaoka by bullet train.
- Takako will need a separate bullet train ticket from Kyoto to Tokyo. Her departure time should be approximately 1.5 to 2 hours after the group departs for Shin-Takaoka.

- Takako will not require accommodation in Takaoka, as she leaves the group on April 22.
- April 28 Return Flight:
- Takako will rejoin the group for the same return flight from Narita to Saskatoon.
