The journey begins in Paris, where students will explore iconic landmarks such as Sainte-Chapelle, Notre Dame, and Les Invalides. A full-day excursion to the majestic Versailles offers a deep dive into French royal history, with time to wander the expansive gardens. The trip also features hands-on cultural experiences like a behind-the-scenes tour of the Opéra Garnier and optional cooking classes. Outside of Paris, the group will venture to the Loire Valley, visiting grand châteaux and Chartres Cathedral, with an excursion to the prehistoric Lascaux Caves. This immersive itinerary combines history, culture, and exploration, offering students an unforgettable educational experience.

Itinerary

Day 1:

Departure

Depart from Victoria on an overnight flight to Paris.

Day 2:

Arrival in Paris

Arrive in Paris and transfer to your centrally located hotel within the city’s périphérique, providing easy access to the heart of Paris. After settling in, enjoy an orientation walk led by your guide, giving students their first taste of the city’s iconic architecture, bustling streets, and vibrant culture. You’ll pass by landmarks like the Seine River and other key areas, helping everyone get familiar with the layout of Paris. Overnight in Paris.

Day 3:

Paris Landmarks

Start the day with a guided walking tour of Sainte-Chapelle, renowned for its stunning stained glass windows, and the medieval Conciergerie, once a royal palace and revolutionary prison. Continue to Notre Dame Cathedral, where you’ll admire the intricate Gothic architecture. In the afternoon, visit Les Invalides, the historic military museum and final resting place of Napoleon Bonaparte, exploring in smaller groups supervised by teachers. The evening is set for a theatre or music performance, offering a chance to experience French culture through the arts. Overnight in Paris.

Day 4:

Versailles Day Trip

Embark on a full-day trip to the magnificent Palace of Versailles, a symbol of absolute monarchy and one of the most opulent palaces in the world. Begin with a guided tour of the palace’s grand halls, including the famous Hall of Mirrors. Afterward, students will have the chance to enjoy a picnic lunch in the expansive gardens, followed by ample time to explore the meticulously designed grounds and fountains at their own pace. Return to Paris in the evening. Overnight in Paris.

Day 5:

Paris Cultural Experience

Delve into the performing arts world with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Opéra Garnier. The backstage tour offers an exclusive look at the inner workings of one of Paris’s most famous theaters, where students will gain insight into the production side of opera and ballet. In the afternoon, there’s the option to participate in a cooking class led by a professional chef, where students can learn the secrets of French cuisine and prepare traditional dishes. The day ends with an evening exploration of the charming Montmartre district, home to artists, street performers, and the iconic Sacré-Cœur Basilica. Overnight in Paris.

Day 6:

Chartres & Transfer to the Loire Valley

Leave the hustle and bustle of Paris behind and travel to the town of Chartres, known for its UNESCO-listed Chartres Cathedral, one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. After touring the cathedral, the group will continue to the Loire Valley, famous for its vineyards, rolling hills, and majestic châteaux. Upon arrival, students will have time to absorb the scenic beauty of the region. Overnight in the Loire Valley.

Day 7:

Loire Valley Castles

Spend the day exploring the iconic châteaux of the Loire Valley. First, visit Château de Chambord, the largest château in the region, known for its Renaissance architecture and vast hunting grounds. Afterward, head to Château de Chenonceau, the elegant riverside castle spanning the Cher River. Throughout the day, students will learn about the history and culture of the French aristocracy and monarchy, with guided tours providing insight into the lives of those who lived there. Overnight in the Loire Valley.

Day 8:

Exploring the Loire Valley

Continue exploring the Loire Valley with visits to additional châteaux or other unique sites. The group can explore the picturesque town of Saumur, famous for its equestrian culture and historic architecture, or visit Troo, a fascinating troglodytic village where ancient homes are carved into cliffsides. Alternatively, students can enjoy a boat tour along the Loire River, learning about the region’s historical significance and natural beauty. Overnight in the Loire Valley.

Day 9:

Return to Paris

After breakfast, the group will return to Paris, arriving in time to enjoy an evening in the city. This time can be used for additional exploration, visiting shops or cafés, or simply soaking in the atmosphere of the French capital. Overnight in Paris.

Day 10:  April 10, 2025

Paris Exploration

Spend the day exploring more of Paris’s world-class museums and cultural sites. Students will have the opportunity to visit either the Louvre Museum, home to the Mona Lisa and thousands of other works of art, or the Musée d’Orsay, which houses a stunning collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces. Later, the group will embark on a regular Seine River cruise , taking in the views of Paris’s landmarks from the water, and dinner, providing a memorable dining experience with views of the Eiffel Tower and other illuminated sights. Overnight in Paris.

Day 11:

Farewell

On your final full day in Paris, enjoy a group farewell dinner, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences shared during the trip. Students and staff alike will have the chance to celebrate the journey with a traditional French meal, concluding the trip on a high note. Overnight in Paris.

Day 12:

Return Home

Transfer to Charles de Gaulle Airport for your flight back to Victoria.
