Day 2: May 25, 2025
Full Day Torres del Paine with Milodon Caves
Our Full Day to Torres del Paine begins at your accommodation in Puerto Natales heading to Villa Cerro Castillo, capital of the commune of Torres del Paine, 59 kilometers north. The journey to this point is approximately 45 minutes, ideal time to talk and interpret the diversity of landscapes with abundant presence of Magellanic forest, valleys of glacial origin, mountain ranges and lakes along the route. If the weather permits, we will be able to spot the presence of condors in one of the many nesting areas along the route.
The itinerary continues towards the Sarmiento Lake viewpoint, the first photographic break with a view of the Paine Mountain Range, from here and with good weather conditions, it will be possible to have a first panoramic view of the entire mountain range of Torres del Paine, the extension to the south of the Andes Mountains and the imposing Lake Sarmiento. After this break we will head towards a site of great relevance, being one of the most impressive views in front of the granite towers. The place described above corresponds to the Laguna Amarga viewpoint, a favorite habitat for flamingos who frequently find ideal conditions for feeding at this site.
The route continues towards the main access to the Torres del Paine National Park where we will register our access tickets to continue with the itinerary. The next viewpoints to visit will be Lake Nordenskjöld, Mirador Salto Grande, Mirador Pehoé, Puente Weber, Rio Paine and Lago Grey. At this last point we will have time to have lunch and to walk around the surroundings if weather conditions allow it.
We return to the vehicle to continue the route leaving the Torres del Paine National Park through the southern section. Our last stop in front of Torres del Paine will be at the most impressive place on the Y-290 route called Mirador Grey. From here it will be possible to observe the group of mountains that dominate the western part of the province, the immense Lake Toro and, if the weather permits, also a section of the Gray Glacier.
After 1 hour of travel, we will reach the culminating point of the day, we will visit the Cueva del Milodón Natural Monument. This protected area is the second most visited after the Torres del Paine National Park in the Magallanes region. Our guide will provide all the information associated with this site of great historical relevance due to the constant archaeological and paleontological research that has been carried out there.
At the end of the visit, we begin the return to Puerto Natales, ending the day with the satisfaction of having obtained a unique experience in this corner of the world.

Full Day Lago Sarmiento Gate
An excursion that connects two of the four accesses that the Torres del Paine National Park has, allowing you to visit a little-known sector that is very attractive for wildlife observation. Its landscape environment is undoubtedly a place worth visiting. Upon entering the park through the Lago Sarmiento gate, we will begin our path with a gentle incline with a side view of the imposing lake of the same name. Almost all of this route borders private land, a common hunting area for the largest predator in the region; the Puma.
After an hour of walking, we will reach an overhang where it is possible to see a series of cave paintings dating back more than 6,000 years. The conditions of this sector allowed it to be frequented by indigenous groups for thousands of years in search of food throughout the American continent. At this site we will be able to photograph the surroundings and understand the rugged geography associated with the rise of high peaks and enormous areas of land towards the eastern area.
After 2 hours of walking, we will reach the main access to the Torres del Paine National Park: Laguna Amarga gate. Before beginning the descent between conglomerate rocks, it will be possible to observe the sinuous shape of the Paine River. After a stop to use services, we will return to the vehicle to go to the Cascada Paine sector. The day continues towards Cañadón Macho, an area where it is possible to observe large groups of guanacos that coexist with species such as the Rhea, Gray Fox, Condor, Moray Eagle among others.
Once we have completed our journey through this extensive valley, we will begin our return to the city of Puerto Natales with the feeling of having experienced a true day of adventure, far from crowds and in the wild environments of Southern Patagonia.
